Teaching at K-DANCE STUDIO Wanaka, Rosie runs courses, weekly scheduled classes and also specializes in private tuition. Whether it is for yourself, a couple or for a special events group Rosie can customize the desired program. Rosie's background now sees her teaching 4 years, with 6 years prior experience in various methods of Ashtanga (power), vinyasa (flowing) and hatha yoga. Her classes are for all ages and backgrounds, to cultivate meditation within action, and live within the present moment, breath by breath.

What are the classes about?

Yoga is a fusion of ancient and modern techniques of mind and body approach to physical and spiritual development. Originally teaching a combination of Yoga and Pilates (Solomon Yogalates™), which acknowledged the updated medical research and has taken the concept of core stability one step further, by increasing the strength and stability of the muscles closest to the whole of the skeleton with the three girdles. The three girdles being the pelvic, abdominal and thoracic (mid & upper spine), encompassing the deep postural muscles of the spine and pelvis, which work in unison, and by focusing to this extent on core stability, correct posture is enhanced – in turn supporting the nervous system running along our very core (spine). When we exercise our spine we also rejuvenate the nervous system – vital in ensuring the healthy function of muscles and organs and encouraging the entire body to work in balance. Rosie is now Yoga focus orientated but still encompassing the concept of the core stability (developed by Louise Solomon – Byron Bay, www.yogalates.com.au)

Providing intuitive classes and through the focus of the dynamic breathing it assists in unblocking and balancing the energy for your wellbeing. With these spiritual moves of yoga you will leave Rosies classes with a healthy balanced body and a sense of inner peace!

NEWSFLASH:... January 2008 saw Rosie undertaking a certificate in Thai Yoga.  It is a great way to blend the benefits of yoga, massage, stretching & relaxation altogether.  Call for details for private sessions.

Commonly asked Questions...

Misconceptions: one of the most common fears for older or very unflexible people is that that cant do yoga – when in fact this is the most important reason that they need to be in a class.

What if I have an injury?

Yoga is full of gentle postures and there is a modification for almost all poses. Generally yoga can speed up the length of healing.

Will I look silly though in front of the experienced?

If someone has been going to yoga for a long time they will be in the focus of only themselves as you will find out eventually. You learn to focus within your own body and on your own mat.

Are there really any physical benefits if I don't sweat?

Various Yoga modalities can also be a very powerful method for those looking for a physical challenge. Even the gentle postures provide physical therapeutic benefits not to mention emotional release and peace of mind. A lot of our physical ailments stem from an emotional stress.

Yoga Workplace

Working alongside the company's management team Rosie will tie worker productivity directly to the health care issue. I believe that traditional approaches to the current health care crisis are misdirected. These traditional efforts are what can be termed as reactive that is, they wait until after the worker has been stricken with illness or injury, and then pay for the necessary treatments. My approach emphasizes prevention and good health promotion which is far less cost effective.

About Rosie

An Aussie girl coming from a Canadian mountain background, spending 7 years snowboarding and now 3 years skiing. Along with all the various outdoor mountain sports such as mountain biking and rock climbing, knows from personal experience how to work with the different kinds of injuries. Yoga can be a very passive form in aiding to bring you back to Ultimate Health.

Rosie who has started Yoga Wanaka has been practising various methods of yoga for 9 years, and is a qualified 'Certificate IV' Hatha Yoga teacher inspiring to increase your health and wellness. Already having the mountain experience and coming from Byron Bay Australia which is considered to be an international epicenter for Yoga & related health modalities, offering an abundance of Yoga classes she saw the 'need' in the mountains for this method. Deciding to move closer to home but still enjoy the mountains she thought Wanaka, New Zealand, could really appreciate and utilise this fun way of exercising and preventing the many skiing, snowboarding and outdoor injuries due to misaligned bodys.

"Usually we are stronger on one side than the other, and we use one side of the body for most of our activities, such as snowboard stance, cleaning teeth, throwing a stick to the dog etc etc, the list is endless which means we are going to be tighter on one side and therefore imbalanced. These imbalances are related to and will contribute to a lot of aches and pains throughout the body. Yoga will train you to use and activate the muscles correctly to stabilise the spine and the foundation of all our movement; the pelvis. During the classes you really focus on your individual self and learn to focus from within. Creating a balance within the mind, body and spirit."
